Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are LED profiles?
An LED profile is a profile with a LED strip affixed to it. This solution is perfect for creating decorative and auxiliary lighting.

Profile
Aluminium or architectural profiles come in a variety of shapes. It acts as a “radiator” and absorbs the heat that is emitted by the LED strip.

Protective cover
The cover can be clear or matte. A clear cover lets through more light, while a matte cover diffuses the light.

End caps
These are needed to cover the ends of the profile.

Mounting clips
With mounting clips, the profile can be easily to attach to any surface.

Why are LED profiles worthwhile?

1) Beneficial. Profiles dissipate the heat of the LED strip, which is harmful to the diodes, so that the light-emitting diodes last much longer.

2) Practical. LED profiles are narrow and come in various shapes. As a result they are easy to install, even in the tightest spaces. The profiles can be mounted on furniture, shelves, stairs, tiles or ceilings, and can also be hung on steel cables.

3) Versatile. Sealed profiles can be used both indoors and outdoors.

4) Attractive. The profiles are aesthetically designed and finished, so they look great in any environment.

5) Creative potential. Create interesting and unique lighting fixtures. You can select whatever dimensions and light spectrum you prefer.

What do I need to make a lighting fixture from an LED profile?
Depending on where and how you will be mounting the profile, you will need the following:

An aluminium profile or an architectural profile
A plastic cover for the profile: these come in aluminium or architectural types
An LED strip
A power supply
You may also need (depending on the type of profile):

End caps
Mounting clips or adhesive tape for affixing the profile
Sealant, if the profile is being mounted outdoors
Cables for hanging the profile

How do I choose the correct power supply?
Depending on the power and length of the LED strip, you will need a particular power supply. There are a variety of these available: 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, 80, 100 and 150 watts.

To select the right power supply, calculate the length of all the strips and multiply this number by the strip power per metre (watts). Then, add an additional 20-30% reserve to the result.

For example, we have five metres of LED strip with a power of 14.4 W per metre. This strip requires a transformer with a power of at least 14.4 x 5 x 1.2 = 86.4. Therefore, in this case, we would choose a 100-watt power supply.

Where can I mount profiles with LED strips?
Stair lighting. You can install LED profiles under the stairs or insert them into a groove milled into the handrail. Adding a dimmer will allow you to adjust the brightness of the light.

Kitchen counter lighting. The light from LED strips is more than bright enough to create flawless kitchen counter lighting. Because of the “dot effect”, the light fully illuminates the work area, and objects in it will be clearly visible with no shadows.

Shelf and cabinet lighting. Due to the compact size of LED profiles, lighting in hard-to-reach spaces is readily available. Now, you can install LED strips in places where no other lighting fixture can fit.

Kitchen cabinet lighting. Since an LED strip requires a voltage of just 12V, it is not dangerous to humans, so installing this kind of lighting is simple and straightforward.

Drawer lighting. You will no longer need to use your main light source to see the items in your drawers. The LED strip turns on automatically, as soon as the drawer is opened.

Non-standard bathroom lighting. A special profile can be installed in bathroom tiles. By using a sealing material, the profile with a built-in LED strip will become waterproof.

Outdoor lighting. Our HR Line and HR Alu profiles have an IP67 waterproof rating. Their structure is sturdy and is built to withstand more weight. You can even use them to light carriageways and parking lots.

Billboards and signs. By using a special EX Alu profile, you can create illuminated billboards and signs. Glass is attached to the advertising sign profile. It is illuminated by strips installed in the profile. If you use RGB strips, you can get different shades of light. Using the same profile, you can frame and illuminate ads, photos or different kinds of advertising materials.

Individual lighting fixtures. Unleash your imagination to create an exclusive lighting fixture for your home! With a round profile and a natural wood base, you could create an original free-standing lamp. You can also insert electrically conductive end caps into the profile and hang it on steel cables, allowing the electric current to flow through. A lamp like this takes up very little space while adding a sense of exclusivity, as well as performing its main function – illuminating the workspace or another part of your home.

Ceiling lighting. Architectural LED profiles are designed for mounting on ceilings or plaster, which allows you to create unique forms of room lighting. Their height is designed so that they can form a single line of light. The entire installation process is very simple, since they are mounted with special mounting springs.
